Molded by Patient Perseverance

The Bible says that “tribulation worketh patience.” In the NIV this verse is translated “suffering produces perseverance.” The Greek word for Perseverance means “remaining under”. It is often translated as patience or endurance.

You are able to remain under the Potter’s hand because you know how much God loves you. He did not cause any of your difficulties, but He certainly knows how to use them to shape you into the person He has planned for you to become. “i will not forget you,” He says, “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands” (Isaiah 49:15,16)  In Ephesians 2:10 He reminds you of this endurance-building assurance. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good work, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” The Greek word for “workmanship” denotes “something that is made,” often referring to a thing of beauty and perfection, created in Christ Jesus for good works. God, through His ever-resent hand in Christ, is up to great things in your life. He is shaping a beautiful person inside of you, working out the lumps in the clay, the quirks of personality and the debilitation attitudes of your full potential. Patience is a special quality the Lord kneads into you. It is one of the fruits of the spirit. It develops in you when the nature of Christ is formed in you and begins to grow. One problem with impatience is that you may misunderstand patience. It is not acquiescence, or perpetual placidity, or lack of fiber. Patience must be rooted in the overriding confidence that God is in control of this universe, your world, and your life. You need to know that God does work things together for good for those who love Him. A patient person knows the shortness of time and the length of eternity.Patience is really faith in action. NO wonder it is on of the fruits of the Spirit. It is one of the matchless characteristics of Christ himself. Authentic patience comes as a result of a deep personal relationship with Christ.

Take a moment to think about a time in your life when the Lord gave you patient, enduring perseverance in some trial. In that time you probably discovered two things- how much He loves you and how much you love and need Him. Because of His goodness, you came through the tough times more sure that your faith really works. You really are molded by patience perseverance. And you are victorious!
